Funds are being distributed to 89 state and local grantees.
The Department of the Treasury released an additional $690 million for rental assistance through their Emergency Rental Assistance Program. Renters continue to suffer in the wake of the pandemic, and will likely suffer more as the likelihood of a recession grows more strong. This round of funding has been awarded to 89 state and local grantees whose goals are to help local renters, raising the amount the Treasury has designated for rental assistance to over $3.5 billion.
“The Emergency Rental Assistance Program, in combination with other Administration initiatives, has kept millions of families in their homes and averted what many predicted would be a wave of evictions during the pandemic,” said Deputy Secretary Adewale Adeyemo. “Today’s announcement reflects a concerted effort to reallocate funds to programs that have demonstrated particular success in deploying rental assistance and will help put more funds into the hands of families facing urgent need.”
